PRIMARY PURPOSE & ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
The Vice President of Technology reports directly to the CEO. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead our technology strategy and drive our business forward, ensuring our solutions meet the rigorous demands of the healthcare sector. This role is also responsible for defining and executing BBCS’s artificial intelligence (AI) and automation strategy, ensuring AI is thoughtfully, securely, and compliantly integrated into our products, platforms, and internal operations to deliver measurable value to clients and the business.
High-Level Objectives:
- Team Leadership and Development: Build and maintain a high-performing technology team aligned with BBCS’s Core Values, focusing on continuous learning, AI-enabled development and mastery of Scrum principles.
- Technology & AI Roadmap Execution: Develop, implement and regularly update a unified technology and AI roadmap aligned with BBCS’s Vision and 10-Year Target, ensuring emerging technologies supports strategic business goals.
- Agile Process Optimization: Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Scrum Agile development process, increasing sprint success rates and product quality.
- Innovation Cultivation: Foster a culture of innovation within the technology team, encouraging research and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies (including AI) to keep BBCS at the forefront of the blood and biologics industry.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Strengthen collaboration between the technology department and other business units, ensuring technology initiatives drive value and lead to positive ROI.
The role’s responsibilities include the following:
- Leadership, Management and Accountability:Drive performance and achieve technology objectives. Ensure proper mix of FTE’s and contractors to meet objectives. Lead the engineering, DevOps, documentation and product quality assurance teams, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Your leadership will nurture both personal growth and technological advancement.
- P&L:Manage and analyze financial performance to ensure profitability and efficiency within technology division; manage technology budget effectively to maximize ROI and achieve targets.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a technology roadmap that aligns with BBCS’s vision, delivering innovative solutions that drive business growth and enhance our SaaS platform’s impact.
- Technical Expertise: Oversee the technology architecture of our SaaS platform, ensuring the use of best practices in cloud computing (AWS), software development (Java, VUE.js, Aurora, MySQL), cybersecurity and API integration (RESTful) to maintain our leadership in regulated medical software.
- Process Excellence: Continuously improve technology related processes, streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and drive results.
- Collaborative Innovation: Work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive innovation, leveraging the latest technological trends to maintain and enhance our competitive edge.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data and analytics to inform technology strategies, identifying opportunities for growth, optimizing our products and maximizing ROI.
- Quarterly Rocks Settings:Facilitate the identification and prioritization of quarterly “Rocks” (Key priorities) for the technology team, ensuring they are aligned with company objectives.
- Score Card Management:Oversee the development and management of a Scorecard, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as system down time, product backlog status, test coverage and system performance for the technology team.
- Talent Acquisition and Development:Recruit, onboard, and develop top talent within the technology team, ensuring that the right people are in the right seats to execute the company’s technology strategies effectively.
Team Responsibilities:
- Team Makeup: The technology team is comprised of IT, Software Development, Product Quality Assurance (Testing), Product Documentation and DevOps.
- Cross Functional Collaboration: Coordinating with Sales & Marketing, Client Success and Business & Finance Roles.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor technology team members to achieve targets and objectives.
- Performance Management: Set clear performance targets, track progress, and provide feedback to team members.
- Meeting Cadence: Lead the implementation of EOS and Agile / Scrum cadence, ensuring regular communication, issue identification, and problem-solving within the technology department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive experience in a senior technology leadership role, preferably within the healthcare, regulated SaaS or medical device industry.
- Proven experience integrating AI, automation, or advanced analytics into enterprise software products.
- Proven track record of developing strategic technology roadmaps and leading high-performing teams.
- Deep technical expertise in software development, cloud computing, AI and software security.
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to inspire teams and drive technological innovation.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional preferred.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance in the healthcare technology sector preferred.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, with a preference for additional certifications in project management and leadership.
